FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. – The Fernandina Beach Police Department is asking for the community’s help in identifying the person who was recently captured on Ring camera video attempting to kick in the door of a home before running away.
Another video of the incident can be seen here.
The front door that was kicked belongs to Crystal Dombroksy, and she said she was shocked, lost her breath, and felt sick to her stomach when she watched the video.
“It’s a violation it’s painful,“ Dombrosky said. ”I don’t know any other words to describe it.”
She’s lived in the area for about two and a half years and has always felt safe and could embrace her artwork.
Fortunately, Crystal said she had recently reinforced her door before leaving for a trip to work as a featured artist, but News4JAX has heard from homeowners who experienced something similar and weren’t as lucky.
Just two weeks ago in Clay County, video surfaced showing someone breaking through a door while the homeowners were still inside before running off.
It’s a “trend” Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters says could have serious consequences.
“If you kick in someone’s door, you are likely to get shot and killed,” he said. “That’s just the facts. So don’t. Second, if we find out that you are doing it, we are going to come and arrest you.”
The Fernandina Beach Police Department is actively working to identify the people involved and anyone with information regarding these incidents is encouraged to contact the police department at 904-277-7342.
