According to the Baker County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting happened near the intersection of Hillcrest Drive and Woodlawn Road in Macclenny and started as a fight between seven people.
Officials also said that the seven people were comprised of five young adults and two juveniles, all of whom were males, who met at the location specifically to fight.
The fight then turned into a shooting, which led to the 20-year-old’s death.
Two other individuals were injured in the fight and were taken to the hospital for urgent care.
Deputies said they have identified all individuals involved, including the shooter, adding that there are no threats to the community. They also said all seven people involved were friends.
Detectives said they are still working to determine what led up to the fight, but they do know that the planned fight occurred due to something that happened the day before.
The agency said it still hasn’t spoken to three of the seven who were involved in the incident, including the two who remain in the hospital.
No arrests have been made as law enforcement continues to piece together the full story.
The undersheriff says the agency is expecting to conduct more interviews throughout the upcoming week.
