“It’s the first time in a very long time we did it here in Jacksonville, we have agencies from Fairfax, Virginia all the way down to South Florida,” Waters said.

Commander Scott Lundquist said the challenges are fun and it helps officers with life-impacting situations on the job.

“I’ve done this for 11 years, I’ve made a lot of friends from different agencies,” Lundquist said. It has helped my riding skills quite a bit. Allowed me to become a better rider. I was in a crash years ago and some of the training out here saved my life."

Blake Patrick’s father is one of the officers who helped plan the event. She said she prefers to ride but when on the sidelines like this she prefers to watch her tablet.

“For me watching the skills they have to see if I can do the same,” Patrick said.

Some people came out to see the officers perform. James Hudson is a rider who backs the boys in blue and wanted to see them up close, so he volunteered to keep score.

“Watching the challenge and watching their skills aspiring to see what we could potentially do,” Hudson said.
