Man killed in shooting on Jacksonville’s Westside

JSO employee accused of tipping off wanted suspects

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was shot and killed Sunday evening on Jacksonville’s Westside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO said around 8:30 p.m., officers responded to Columbus Avenue, near the intersection with Erie Avenue, after receiving reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found a man with an apparent gunshot wound to his head.

The man, who was around 30 years old, died at the scene, according to JSO.

Police said the circumstances that led to the man’s death are still unknown and no arrests have been made.

The only suspect information is a possible dark-colored vehicle seen leaving the area around the time of the reported shooting.
