JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 45-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Sierra McKenzie, 33, as well as a double shooting days earlier, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

On January 23, patrol officers were called to a home on College Circle South off Kings Road. They found McKenzie’s body in a pool of blood on the sidewalk. The Medical Examiner’s Office ruled she died of a gunshot wound.

Earlier this month, the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force took Hunter into custody for two outstanding arrest warrants.

JSO homicide detectives collected evidence from the scene of McKenzie’s murder to connect Hunter to her death, JSO said. JSO investigators said they used cutting-edge technology to not only arrest him for McKenzie’s murder but also link him to other crimes.

Robbery and Violent Crime Unit detectives have also charged Hunter with shooting two people in the head during a home invasion robbery on Main Street in the Brentwood neighborhood just four days after McKenzie’s murder. Both victims survived, JSO said.

Hunter is now behind bars in the Duval County jail, facing multiple charges including murder and attempted murder.
