JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A widespread manhunt for a Florida man who was accused of killing two people during a robbery and shooting a deputy ended when the man was killed during a SWAT standoff on Friday morning.
It all started when the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigated an armed robbery that happened at a Mobil gas station near Shiloh Road in Gadsden County. As a result of the robbery, four victims were shot and two people died.

The murder suspect’s SUV was later spotted in Columbia County and a chase by FHP, Columbia and Suwannee county sheriff’s offices led to the driver crashing. The driver then fired on the officers and hit a Suwannee County deputy, officials said. The deputy’s body armor minimized the impact of the shot, which resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to the deputy, according to the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect, who officials said was wanted for homicide in another county, then ran off and a massive manhunt involving multiple agencies followed.
Later, the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect was shot and killed after firing at additional law enforcement officers. No officers were hurt in that exchange.
“We appreciate everyone’s assistance in making sure this violent felon didn’t victimize anyone else,” the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office said.
No other details about what happened, including the name of the suspect, were immediately released.
