BODYCAM: Jacksonville police horses help capture fleeing drug suspect in memorable pursuit

‘Our Mounted Unit doesn’t just horse aroundwhen it comes to crime!‘: JSO

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – In an unexpected turn of events, a drug deal in Jacksonville took a wild twist Tuesday in downtown Jacksonville when a man tried to “hoof” it and flee from the police. The MVPs of the day—horses.

Jordan Wilson, 25, attempted to flee the scene after the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) said he “handed off illegal drugs” on Feb. 4, according to police.

Jacksonville’s Mounted Unit was on the scene and quickly turned the chase into a memorable pursuit after Wilson decided to make a run for it.

And it was all caught on camera.

“Police Service Horse Nash, with Officer Cassie Haire in the saddle, galloped into action, proving that criminals can run, but they can’t hide from our horsepower!” a post from JSO said.

The man eventually ran out of steam and was arrested by the officer.

“After a quarter-mile chase, Wilson decided to rein it in and surrender to Officer Zackary Maryland,” JSO said. “While Nash is the star of the video, we want to give a big shoutout to fellow crime-fighting steeds Jaxx, Judge, and Duke, for making sure justice was the mane priority.”
