City leaders celebrate ‘Jacksonville’s first-ever Main Street District’ to revitalize A. Philip Randolph Blvd. corridor

Florida Avenue Main Street aims to foster business and economic development in the Eastside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville officials, business owners and other city leaders on Wednesday introduced Florida Avenue Main Street, a new organization focused on revitalizing the historic A. Philip Randolph Blvd. corridor to foster business and economic development in the Eastside.

The goal of Florida Avenue Main Street is to support local businesses, attract new investment and encourage economic development and preservation in the Eastside.

“This organization is a dream come true for many Eastsiders,” LIFT JAX Chief Operating Officer Travis Williams said.

Florida Avenue Main Street Executive Director Nigelle Kohn said Jacksonville’s Eastside was accepted to the Florida Main Street program in 2023.

“We became Jacksonville’s first-ever Main Street district,” Kohn said.

By being a part of the Main Street America™ Coordinating Program, the organization will be able to access resources and grants that will help revitalize the area.

“I truly understand the value and the historical and cultural significance of this neighborhood,” Kohn said.
