JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Courtney White, a representative of the NYAP/Chance Program, received the Positively JAX award for January 2025 for outstanding work in specialized foster care and support for youth survivors of human trafficking.
The program has not only brought attention to these critical issues but has also provided much-needed resources and hope to those affected.
White shared insights into the challenges faced by youth survivors of human trafficking.
“These young people have endured unimaginable hardships,” she said. “Our goal is to provide them with a safe and nurturing environment where they can heal and rebuild their lives.”
White emphasized the importance of specialized foster care in addressing the unique needs of these survivors.
“Traditional foster care systems often aren’t equipped to handle the complex trauma these kids have experienced,” she explained. “We work to create tailored support systems that address their specific needs, from mental health services to educational support.”
Community support plays a vital role in the success of the NYAP/Chance Program. White highlighted the collaborative efforts of local organizations and volunteers who contribute to the program’s mission.
“It’s truly a community effort,” she noted. “We rely on the generosity and compassion of our partners to make a real difference in these young lives.”
As White looks to the future, she remains committed to expanding the reach of the NYAP/Chance Program.
“There’s still so much work to be done,” she said. “But with the continued support of our community, I believe we can create a brighter future for these young survivors.”
