JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – More than 7.6 million people flew through Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) in 2024, making it the busiest year ever in the airport’s history.
The activity was a 3% increase from 2023, which was the airport’s previous record for passenger traffic. An estimated 7 million people flew out of JAX that year.
“Our passenger volume continues to increase as Northeast Florida and the local economy grow,” Jacksonville Aviation Authority (JAA) CEO Mark VanLoh said. “Airlines have taken note, adding frequencies, cities and larger aircraft at JAX.”
Because of the increase in passengers, JAA took on several major infrastructure projects that will be completed sometime in the future.
A third concourse, Concourse B, will add six new gates, more concessions and passenger amenities.
A third parking garage will add approximately 2,000 new parking spaces for travelers.
Both projects are estimated to be completed in 2026.
An expanded security checkpoint with new screening technology and additional lanes opened in late 2023.
This year two new airlines will begin operating at JAX.
Avelo Airlines will fly nonstop to New Haven, Connecticut starting Feb.14. Air Canada will offer daily flights to Toronto beginning on May 23.
Allegiant Airlines, will provide year-round service to Akron/Canton, Des Moines and Grand Rapids beginning in May. Breeze Airways will also fly nonstop to New Haven.
