JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two men were transported to a hospital in critical condition after they were shot Monday morning at an apartment complex in the Brentwood neighborhood, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
According to JSO, around 7 a.m., a man wearing a mask broke into a unit at the Capri Villa apartments on North Main Street and shot the two men in the head. The shooter then took the keys to one of the men’s cars and drove off, JSO said.
Police said one man is in his 40s and the other man in his 60s.
A neighbor we spoke with said spoke about one of the victims.
“I was really shocked,” the neighbor said. “He’s a real good guy. Everybody here wanted a ride so he would give them a ride. Take them to the grocery store and stuff like that.”
Another neighbor also echoed those statements about the man’s generosity in the neighborhood.
“He takes people to the store and asks if anyone needs a ride. That’s how I know him. Everybody speaks to him,” the neighbor said.
Both of the men were critically injured.
Police said the suspect was driving a silver Buick Lacrosse.
