JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Nikki Fried, who has been the Chair of the Florida Democratic Party since 2023, has been re-elected to serve in the position for the next four years.
According to Florida’s Democratic Party, Fried received 78% of the votes cast on the first ballot.

“I’m honored to serve another term as Chair of the Florida Democratic Party,” Fried said. “Over the next four years, Florida Democrats will continue to organize, mobilize, and hold Republicans accountable.”
She continued to say that, as chair, she’ll emphasize “winning local races, pushing our state legislators to pass policies that support hard-working Floridians and make our state more affordable for all.”
Last week Tuesday, Fried posted a video to social media explaining why she was running for re-election and referenced the election of Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan as one of the party’s major wins since 2022.
The pendulum of politics doesn’t move without hard work & dedication from all of us.

Today, I am announcing that I am running for re-election as Chair of @FlaDems because consistency and stability in leadership is necessary to continue building.

“We flipped the Jacksonville’s Mayor’s office, re-elected Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Lavine Cava, and kicked Moms For Liberty school board candidates to the curb,” Fried said.
She also cited the re-election of Monique Worrell as a state attorney, the election of the first-ever Hispanic commissioner in Palm Beach County, and “big local wins” in Alachua County as reasons to continue her leadership.
Before she served as chair, Fried was the Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services from 2019-2023 — Florida’s only statewide elected Democrat and the first woman elected to that office in the South.
According to Florida Politics, Fried confirmed that she would not run for statewide office, something she sought in 2022 when she lost in the Democratic Primary to former Gov. Charlie Crist.
“I just committed four years to this party, and we’ve got a lot of work to do. I’ve committed to doing that work on the ground here in the party,” she said. “I am not running for Governor in 2026.”
Fried is a Florida native, born and raised in Miami, and is a triple graduate of the University of Florida.
During its meeting on Saturday, the State Executive Committee will also elect a First Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and members of the Democratic National Committee.
