2 dead after fire consumes home in Jacksonville’s Grand Park neighborhood

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said two people died on Saturday morning after a house was “fully engulfed” in flames in the city’s Grand Park neighborhood.

JSO said the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department responded to the fire around 6 a.m. on the 2000 block of W. 30th St.

“While extinguishing the fire an adult male and female were located inside the home, deceased‚” the agency said, adding that its homicide unit is investigating the scene with the State Fire Marshal to determine the cause of the fire and will be working the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the official cause of death.

Currently, foul play is not suspected.
