The rare winter storm that left a wake of snow in Southeast Georgia and ice in Northeast Florida also shut down many government offices, schools and services on Wednesday.
Some counties also adjusted trash service because of dangerous icy roads.

Here’s a county-by-county breakdown for counties where information was available:
FLORIDA
Alachua
Alachua County’s solid waste facilities and operations are closed on Wednesday and will resume regular hours on Thursday.
Residential solid waste collection services will be delayed two days for the remainder of the week, due to the combination of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the winter storm warning.
This means that homes regularly collected on Tuesday will be collected on Thursday, those regularly collected on Wednesday will be collected on Friday, and those regularly collected on Thursday will be collected on Saturday. Regular schedules will resume on Monday, Jan. 27.
Clay
As a reminder, there was no garbage or yard waste collection on Wednesday in Clay County. Wednesday’s routes will be picked up on Thursday, and Thursday’s routes will be picked up on Friday, and Friday’s routes will be picked up on Saturday.
Town of Orange Park Wednesday Yard Waste customers will be serviced on Thursday (Jan. 23) Thursday trash customers will be serviced on Friday (Jan 24).
Commercial and roll-off customers with service scheduled between Wednesday and Friday will be delayed by one day, meaning Wednesday customers will be serviced on Thursday, Thursday customers will be serviced on Friday, and Friday customers will be serviced on Saturday.
Columbia
Waste Pro is running on its regular schedule this week.
Duval
The landfill will be closed on Wednesday. Trash pickups scheduled for Wednesday will be rescheduled for Saturday.
Commercial and roll-off Wast Management customers with regular service days scheduled between Wednesday and Friday will be delayed by one day.
Wednesday customers will be serviced on Thursday, Thursday customers will be serviced on Friday, and Friday customers will be serviced on Saturday.
Nassau
Residential (Fernandina Beach and WM subscription customers), commercial, and roll-off Wast Management customers with regular service days scheduled between Wednesday and Friday will be delayed by one day.
Wednesday customers will be serviced on Thursday, Thursday customers will be serviced on Friday, and Friday customers will be serviced on Saturday.
St. Johns
Commercial and roll-off Waste Management customers with regular service days scheduled between Wednesday and Friday will be delayed by one day.

GEORGIA
Camden
- MSW and C&D Landfills will be closed on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, and will reopen for normal operating hours Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025, weather and conditions permitting. Extended hours will be offered Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- County (Unincorporated Area): The Curbside Collections office will be closed on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. Note: Waste collections will be one day behind; Wednesday collections will be made on Thursday.
- City of Kingsland: Waste collections will pause on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, and will resume normal operations Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025, weather and conditions permitting. Note: Waste collections will be one day behind; Wednesday collections will be made on Thursday.

Ryland initiated trash pickup early Tuesday, ensuring all trucks were off the road by 3 p.m. There will be no pickup on Wednesday.
