JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The City of Jacksonville is opening its warming center Sunday at 9 p.m. ahead of the expected cold weather this week.

The warming center will be open to residents who do not have access to adequate heat.

All COJ libraries and community centers will reopen on Jan. 21 during regular business hours and serve as Warming Centers across Duval County.
JTA will give free rides to the Warming Centers, which will have water onsite. Residents are asked to bring their own bedding, snacks, medicine, entertainment, and hygiene items.
Area shelters are also providing cold-weather shelter services to the homeless population:
- City Rescue Mission, 234 W. State Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202
- Check-in at 6:30 p.m., Shelter will be available until temperatures are at least 40°.
- Mission House, 800 Shetter Avenue, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250
- Cold Night Shelter: Community Presbyterian, 150 Sherry Drive, Atlantic Beach, FL 32233
- Sulzbacher Center
- 611 East Adams Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202 – Men
- 5455 Springfield Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32208 – Women and Children
- Open for overflow any night that is below 40°.
- Trinity Rescue Mission, 622 W. Union Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202
- Men: Check-in at 4 p.m.
- Women and Children: Check-in at 1:30 p.m.
Andre Ayoub, the Duval County Emergency Preparedness Division Chief, said it’s important to be ready and take care of yourself.
