WAYCROSS, Ga. – The possibility of snow in Southeast Georgia and parts of Northeast Florida is stirring up excitement, skepticism, and even dread among residents.
While the grass is still green for now, the forecast suggests that a rare winter wonderland may soon blanket parts of the region.
“If you’re going to see snow, that’s going to be in Georgia. Waycross, Brunswick, Nahunta, Blackshear—all of those areas,” News4JAX Chief Meteorologist Richard Nunn said. “They have a very good chance for seeing snow.”

Zipporah has lived in Waycross for much of his life. He said he’s excited to see snow yet again.
“We [can] have a lot of snow on the ground for one time in our life,” he said.
However, not everyone is looking forward to the possible snow.
Blackshear resident Hannah Raulerson admitted, “I don’t want snow. It’s too cold. It’s already cold enough.”
But she said she’d make the most of the experience if the frozen confetti did hit the ground.
“I guess I’m gonna be outside playing in it,” she said.
For younger residents like 5-year-old Logan and 6-year-old Leah, the idea of snow is thrilling and entirely new.
Neither child has ever seen snow before, but both are excited about the chance to play in it. When asked if they’d throw snowballs at each other, their chaotic laughter said it all.
