Early voting begins Saturday in special election to replace Rep. Michael Waltz

Voters in parts of northeast Florida will be able to cast an early, in-person ballot this weekend in the special election to fill the seat of Congressman Michael Waltz. Waltz is resigning effective Monday, when he will join the incoming Trump administration as national security advisor.

Waltz currently represents District 6, which includes all of Flagler and Putnam counties, as well as parts of St. Johns, Lake, Marion, and Volusia counties.

On Nov. 25, after Waltz was named to the post, Gov. Ron DeSantis set a special election for the seat, with a primary to be held on Jan. 28, and a general election on April 1. A mandatory early voting period for the primary was set for Jan. 18-25.

Three Republicans and two Democrats qualified for the primaries in this race.

Additional candidates have qualified for the general election and will appear on the April ballot along with the winners of the primaries.

Early voting opportunities in St. Johns, Flagler, and Putnam counties are detailed below:

St. Johns County:

Jan. 18-25, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily at two locations:

Flagler County:

Jan. 18-25, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily at two locations:

  • Flagler County Public Library, 2500 Palm Coast Parkway NW, Palm Coast

Putnam County:

Jan. 18-25, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily at three locations:

  • Interlachen Community Center, 135 S. County Road 315, Interlachen
  • South Putnam Government Center, 115 N. Summit St., Crescent City
