Double-decker bus that once stood as landmark for closed St. Augustine British pub up for grabs

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The former site that once housed a St. Augustine staple is looking for someone to become the new owner of the last standing landmark that shows where the Kings Head British Pub once stood.

The 32-year-old British pub served the community for the last time in September.

Almost four months after closing its doors, the former owners posted on Facebook Wednesday that the new owners of the establishment gave them a five-day warning to remove the red double-decker bus that stood outside the establishment.

The former pub owners said they were told to move the bus or it would be scrapped.

“Both me and Mum are heartbroken that the bus is doomed to such a grizzly and unfortunate end,” the Facebook post read.

Some people have shown interest in getting the bus, according to the former pub owners, but since it has to be removed by Friday, Jan. 17, the owners have not been able to find someone to commit to giving the bus a new home on such short notice.

The bus is free to interested parties, but the owners warned that it would need to be lifted and loaded onto a flatbed and needed a “massive restoration project.”
