City of Jacksonville opening warming centers, Freeze Warning issued for Duval County

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The City of Jacksonville is opening cold-weather shelters due to a Freeze Warning in effect for Duval County from 10 p.m. until 9 a.m. Sunday.

The Legends Center at 5130 Soutel Drive will be open Jan. 11 at 9 p.m. until Jan. 12 at 9 a.m.

JTA buses will transport people to the Legends Center and will have water onsite. Residents using the warming center should bring:

  • Air mattress, blankets, pillows, or other bedding
  • Snacks and medication
  • Games, toys, and books
  • Hygiene and comfort items

Additionally, all COJ Libraries and COJ Community Centers will be open during regular business hours and serve as Warming Centers across Duval County. More information and cold weather safety tips can be found at: jaxready.com/StayWarmJax.
