5’7, around 90 pounds, green eyes, braces, and only 15 years old is the description of Alyssa Umbaugh, Alyssa was last seen on Dec. 1, near a Red Roof motel on Youngerman Circle.

“She’s funny, Noelle (Alyssa’s mother) would probably say she’s the funniest person she knows,” Danielle Nahabetian, a family friend said.

Nahabetian is her mother’s best friend and watched Alyssa grow from a child to a teen.

Alyssa’s family said she also loves the color pink, anime shows, and is extremely artistic.

“She’s much more than the picture that everyone is seeing,” Nahabetian said. “She is a human being; she isn’t what’s happening to her. She has a mother who fiercely loves her.”

Alyssa is still missing, leaving a community searching and a family grieving. Alyssa was last seen on Dec. 1, near a Red Roof motel on Youngerman Circle.

The case is still active and under investigation, so details are limited. However, the family told News4JAX’s Briana Brownlee she was last seen with neck-length brown hair, wearing a black and grey sweater, black flared leggings, and black Converses.

With Alyssa missing, the family is left with many questions.

“Is she eating? Is she sleeping, is she comfortable? Is she with people who make her feel safe? Is she safe?,” Nahabetian said.

Sunday, hundreds showed up to do a community search for Alyssa. Flyers were given out as the group canvassed the area in hopes of finding the teen.

“I think I only know about two or three people out there,” Nahabetian said. “It restores your faith in humanity, especially in the climate we are in right now. People disagree and it’s normal to disagree. Right now, they are putting politics, religion, opinions, and everything aside and we’re all coming together as one unit. As parents, as the community as friends, family just to make sure one of our own is safe.”

If you have any information regarding Alyssa, you are urged to call the Clay County Sheriff’s Office or local authorities at 904-264-6512.
