The officer was on his way to work

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man in his mid-40s died Saturday morning after being struck by an off-duty Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office police officer’s vehicle on his way to work in the New Town neighborhood.

JSO said at 5:21 a.m., the officer was traveling west on Kings Road in a marked police vehicle when the man walked out and was struck by the car.

News4JAX received surveillance video from a nearby home that captured the incident. However, due to the graphic nature of the video, it will not be posted in this article.
