Northside restaurant to reopen Tuesday after crash causes significant damage

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Northside eatery will reopen to customers Tuesday morning after a car crash over the weekend caused significant damage to the business.

Despite the damage, the owners of Jamrock Caribbean Cuisine said they will be able to take orders again starting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The owners told News4JAX that a driver crashed through the building around 2 a.m. Sunday morning.

They said the driver first hit a light pole near Broom Street and Lem Turner and then went through Jamrock, causing significant damage both outside and inside.

The owners also said the driver ultimately crashed into Klassic Family Hair Care Salon, which is right next door.

The original thought was that the restaurant would be closed indefinitely. However, on Monday night, the owners posted an update on the eatery’s Instagram page.

“We will reopen and take orders starting tomorrow. Thanks for all the calls and prayers,” the restaurant wrote.

News4JAX is waiting to get the incident report from police and will provide more details when more information becomes available.
