JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The St. Johns River in Jacksonville is set to glow on Saturday night as the annual Light Boat Parade marks its 40th year of spreading holiday cheer.
The Jacksonville Light Boat Parade will celebrate its 40th anniversary with dazzling light displays on the water, and some locals consider it one of the most anticipated family traditions to kick off the holiday season.
Vessels big and small will decorate their hulls with festive lights that will sparkle and shine as they float along the St. Johns River.
Following the parade, which will officially kick off at 6:30 p.m., the evening will conclude with a beautiful fireworks show featuring the one-of-a-kind “waterfall” effect off both the Main Street and Acosta Bridges (see map below).
The parade will begin at the west end of the Shipyards, travel along the Northbank, and turn south just before the Acosta Bridge. It will continue east along the Southbank.
Eventgoers are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, snacks and beverages. This year, spectators can enjoy the festivities from the Southbank, including Friendship Fountain, which will feature a variety of entertainment and attractions. Those planning on attending are encouraged to arrive early.

Free public parking for the Jacksonville Light Boat Parade will be available at the DCPS Building, located at 1701 Prudential Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32207, and the Kings Avenue Parking Garage, located at 1201 Kings Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32207, according to a release from the COJ. Additionally, parking meters downtown are free on weekends. Limited ADA-accessible parking will be provided near Friendship Fountain to ensure accessible viewing opportunities on the Southbank.
