Addison was the reckless driver being pursued early Friday by FHP Trooper Zachary Fink, 26, who died after a wreck with a semitrailer while attempting to make the same U-turn Addison had illegally performed to travel north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 at Crosstown Parkway near Port St. Lucie. The driver of the semitruck that struck Fink’s vehicle during the maneuver was killed in the crash, and Fink would eventually succumb to his injuries after being hospitalized in critical condition, troopers said.

Other troopers and St. Lucie County deputies continued after Addison, who would go on to crash his vehicle into a tree about two miles off I-95 and run away. He was taken into custody around 8:06 a.m. after four hours of searching, FHP said.

FHP has charged Addison with two counts of vehicular homicide (782.071.1a F.S.), two counts of felony homicide (782.04.2 F.S.), felony homicide while resisting an officer with violence to his or her person (782.04.3q F.S.), driving without a license causing death or serious injury (322.34.6a F.S.) and aggravated fleeing to elude with serious injury or death (316.1935.4b F.S.).

The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office has additionally charged Addison with fleeing to elude police with lights/sirens activated (316.1935.2 F.S.) and with an out-of-county warrant regarding aggravated battery in Broward.
