Going Ringside Ep. 45: AEW Owner Tony Khan

We sit down with the AEW owner to discuss the current status of his company, the wrestling industry and his top stars

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – On this special edition of Going Ringside we are joined by All Elite Wrestling Owner Tony Khan. He is also the son of the Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan. AEW is returning to Jacksonville Jan. 10 for their Dynamite and Rampage shows at Daily’s Place. Tickets are available.

In this exclusive interview Going Ringside Host Scott Johnson discusses several topical issues with Khan including the current status of AEW’s deal with Warner Brothers/Discovery, the status of former Champion MJF and how he managed to snag “The Rated R Superstar” Adam Copeland to his company. Copeland was affiliated with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) for more than two decades under the name Edge. Now he’s a top star for AEW.

Going Ringside also discusses the importance of Daily’s Place and Jacksonville to AEW during the pandemic. Every week for more than a year the company broadcast all their shows live on TNT from Jacksonville where they had access to the open air arena and were at the forefront of bringing back fans to events. Well before others like the NBA, UFC and WWE did.

AEW also made history this past year by selling more tickets than any other pro wrestling event in history when they eclipsed 80-thousand tickets sold for their event in Wembley Stadium. A watershed moment for the young company that turned five years old in January.

Another topic that’s brought up in the iconic wrestler Sting. He’s approaching retirement and will have his final match in Jacksonville at the show on the 10th.

Khan also discusses several of his other top stars including Samoa Joe, Toni Storm and Christian Cage. He also addresses a viral clip of him at the latest AEW media scrum where he addressed the collective press wearing a unique hat and large sunglasses.

Khan also talks about excitement surrounding the Jacksonville Jaguars who are vying for a playoff spot this weekend.
