Free adoptions at JHS and ACPS this weekend

Avoid holiday pet scams & help shelter have Silent Night instead

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – More than 7,000 pets are looking for homes this holiday season, and you could give some of them the gift of warmth and stability!

The national nonprofit Petco Love is working with the Jacksonville Humane Society and Animal Care & Protective Services to help animals find their fur-ever homes.

Adoption fees, which can often be a deterrent for those willing to adopt, are being waived on Saturday and Sunday as part of the Mega Merry Adoption Weekend.

“There are so many wonderful pets in our partner animal shelters and rescues just waiting for someone to adopt them into a loving home,” Petco Love President Susanne Kogut said.

Petco Love is holding the event across Florida, Georgia and Texas, with 96 Petco pet care centers and 76 shelters taking part. Those in the Duval County area are encouraged to visit JHS or ACPS this weekend, as well as Petco Marsh Landing, to visit with adoptable cats and dogs.

“We are thrilled to join Petco Love in this Mega Merry Adoption Weekend,” said Denise Deisler, CEO of JHS. “Thanks to Petco Love’s ongoing generosity, shelter animals at JHS receive the compassionate care they deserve while waiting for their new, loving homes.”

Jacksonville Humane Society will be open for adoptions all weekend from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Petco Marsh Landing is open for adoptions from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. both days as well.

Animal Care and Protective Services is also open all weekend, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

All pets are altered, microchipped, and vaccinated prior to adoption. Additional fees such as the city rabies licensing fee, a leash and collar, or a cat carrier may apply. For more information, visit jaxhumane.org.
