USPS mail delays in Glynn County causing financial strain for residents

BRUNSWICK, Ga. – Residents in parts of Glynn County are expressing frustration over inconsistent mail service from the United States Postal Service (USPS).

Many have reported delays, with some going days without receiving any mail. This inconsistency is causing financial strain for some residents.

News4JAX spoke with local residents who are feeling the impact of these delays.

Bobby J. Miller, a Brunswick resident, shared his experience of installing a brightly colored mailbox to catch the attention of mail carriers.

Despite this, he has faced issues with late bill deliveries, resulting in late fees.

“Well, see we’re on a low income and we have to do what we can pay,” Miller said. “And then after that right there we have to pay more, it’s going to hurt us with buying food, gas stuff like that.”

John Adams, another Brunswick resident, echoed similar concerns.

“My mail would come every day at like 11 o’clock every day, every day you can count on it,” Adams said. “And now it’s getting way off.”

In response to these issues, Georgia Representative Buddy Carter and other lawmakers have taken action by sending a letter to the postmaster. The letter inquired about the percentage of inbound mail delivered on time and asked about challenges faced by USPS employees in delivering reliable service.

Last month, during a Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee meeting, Senator Jon Ossoff addressed USPS service concerns, while the postal service defended its operations.

News4JAX reached out to USPS for a response regarding when residents in Brunswick might see improvements but has yet to receive a reply.

Until changes are made, Miller plans to pay his bills in person to avoid further late fees.

As updates from USPS become available, this article will be updated online.
