The State Attorney’s Office said Tiron Alexander, 35, would book flights as a flight attendant with various airlines between 2018 and 2024.
Alexander claimed he worked for seven different airlines and used roughly 30 different badge numbers and dates of hire to book flights through a website designated for flight crew.
According to The Washington Post, 34 of the flights were on Spirit Airlines.
Court records obtained by The Washington Post revealed that Alexander was arrested in February while trying to fly from San Francisco, California, to Australia.
He had also been suspended without pay for about a year from his previous position as a customer service agent at American Airlines. Additionally, he worked as a flight attendant from 2013 to 2015.
On June 5, Alexander was convicted of four counts of wire fraud and one count of entering a secure area of an airport under false pretenses. Each wire fraud charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years, while the other charge has a maximum sentence of at least 10 years. Each count could also incur a fine of $250,000.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 25.
