JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Did you know almost 1 in 4 adults abandon their New Year’s resolutions within the first week, according to a recent Forbes survey?
By February, nearly half of us have given up altogether.
Unsurprisingly, “working out more” consistently tops the list of failed resolutions.
The good news? It doesn’t have to be this way.
Nemiah Rutledge, owner and founder of Body Paradox, is here to help you beat the statistics with simple, realistic fitness strategies.
He joined us on The Morning Show to demonstrate easy exercises that are enjoyable, time-efficient, and designed to keep you on track with your goals beyond the typical “dropout period.”
Rutledge says there are some keys to staying consistent with your fitness routine:
- Make it part of your schedule: Treat workouts like important appointments—put them on your calendar.
- Find accountability and support: Work out with a friend, join a class, or hire a trainer for motivation.
- Keep it fun and varied: Choose activities you actually enjoy—if you hate running, don’t run! And mix up workouts to prevent boredom and keep things exciting.
- Track progress and celebrate wins: Keep a journal or use an app to log workouts and milestones. And celebrate small victories — whether it’s lifting heavier, running longer, or just showing up.
- Give yourself grace: Don’t let one setback derail your progress, and focus on consistency over intensity — showing up regularly matters more than going all out once in a while.
