Growing up on a farm, near Plains, Jimmy Carter went on to attend Georgia Tech, the U.S. Naval Academy, then run his family's farm before beginning a political career that led to the White House as America's 39th president. His service didn't stop after one term, but took him around the world advocating for democracy and fighting disease and poverty, while living a humble life and teaching Sunday school in his hometown.
