April has been a good month for movies.
A Minecraft Movie has been out for a couple of weeks and doing well at the box office. Imagine 1980’s outfits, with talks shrubs and little clay like rock people trying to destroy the world. And who gets to come to the rescue: Jason Mamoa, Danielle Brooks and Jack Black are all worth seeing in this movie.
Do you remember Ben Affleck as the accountant? Well he’s back and news flash: He has a brother. Affleck is back as a CPA also known as a certified accountant. The small-town certified public accountant finds all the secrets one number at a time.
Viola Davis has played many roles: The attorney, the loving committed wife, the advisor and the confidant.
In G20, she plays the President. If you saw her in Woman King, its very parallel to that role as a leader and fighter.
Whenever there is a G summit of any kind there’s alot of security involved whether its real life or in a movie because there nation leaders from all over the world. The G20 summit is taken over by terrorists and Davis fights back to save family and country.
Of all the movies that have made a major impact in April its Sinners. Directed by Ryan Coogler with Michael B Jordan playing duo lead roles as twin brothers; this movie was amazing.
Before seeing the movie I thought how will Jordan play these roles with unique personalities. The man did it. However, this movie was written so eloquently with detail and intention. Based in the 1930s Mississippi Delta, the setting and culture of the time is authentic.
Two things that you’ll see in the movie but might miss is in a scene in the town. Look for a sign that says hot tamales. That is extremely authentic to Mississippi Delta culture, and you’ll notice Asian American characters in the movie. They too were very much apart of the delta community in the 1930 and are still to this day. The first part of the movie is about the twins returning home to make a living for themselves and the second half of the movie shifts into a thriller, vampire movie but its symbolism goes deeper to things around culture and life parallels. This movie is already breaking records in the box office and will likely be award winning.
