The city of Jacksonville and Keep Jacksonville Beautiful are partnering with the Beaches Sea Turtle Patrol for the annual July 5th Beaches Cleanup following the Independence Day holiday.

Volunteers will pick up trash and other debris along the shoreline from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday (weather permitting).

Children can join in, but they must be accompanied by an adult.

All volunteers should wear sturdy footwear and sun protection and bring drinking water.

Last year, 120 volunteers invested 240 hours of their time to collect 50 bags, or 1,750 pounds of debris.

Advance registration is NOT required for the event.

Litter collection bags and gloves will be distributed to volunteers at the following locations:

  • Atlantic Boulevard at the ocean, Atlantic Beach
  • Beach Boulevard at the ocean, Jacksonville Beach
  • 16th Avenue North at the ocean, Jacksonville Beach
