JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – All through Pride Month, News4JAX is highlighting the local organizations that serve our unique LGBTQ+ community in Northeast Florida.
Founded in 2012, the OUTdoorsy Adventure Team is a nonprofit Meet-Up group of LGBTQ folks -- and allies -- who find joy in exploring the great outdoors.

What started as a small group of people with hiking boots and big dreams has grown into a vibrant collection of adventurers who believe that nature is for everyone.
From hiking and biking to kayaking, ziplining, and camping, this inclusive community of outdoor enthusiasts does it all together.
In 2024, 785 members of the Outdoorsy Adventure Team hiked, biked, and kayaked over 2,611 miles. That’s enough to travel to the International Space Station 10 times!
But beyond thrilling outings, these LGBTQ adventurers are committed to their community.
Through fundraising events, food drives, community outreach and awareness campaigns, Outdoorsy is turning adventures into action.
Last year, 134 members took part in more than a dozen community outreach events, and that service has continued into 2025.
So far this year, Outdoorsy has participated in the First Coast AIDS Walk, served as April’s “Pantry Champion” for JASMYN, raised money and walked in the Strides for Pride 5K, and supported the Dining Out For Life event.
The group’s annual $10 membership donation allows Outdoorsy to:
- Sustain its online presence and MeetUp activities
- Participate in local LGBTQ+ and environmental events
- Host fun social gatherings
- Donate remaining funds to local charities that members love and believe in
No experience is necessary to join. All you need is a love for the outdoors -- and a willingness to adventure with an open heart.
