The Jacksonville Area Sexual Minority Youth Network is a local LGBTQ+ youth organization focused on supporting teens and young adults aged 13-29 in greater Jacksonville.
JASMYN’s Board of Directors is in the process of identifying candidates to fill the position of permanent CEO.
In the meantime, Wirth brings to the Interim Executive position more than 25 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, including a decade of service on JASMYN’s Board of Directors.
“This is tough work, but it’s sacred work. The challenges of homelessness, mental and physical health, and belonging are real. My commitment is that JASMYN remains a safe, steady beacon for LGBTQIA+ youth, not just today, but for generations to come,” Wirth said.
Board Chair Blake Osner said Wirth will provide stability for JASMYN during a transition to a new CEO.
“As Tina steps into this role, she will be focused on making sure the broader community knows that the work is continuing, that it’s needed now more than ever, and that their support is still making a powerful difference. And from Tina’s track record, I know we are in very good hands,” said Osner.
A spokesperson for JASMYN said Castro, who had joined JASMYN just four months ago, departed the organization because he “decided his talents were better suited elsewhere.”
“He made valuable contributions to the organization, and everyone at JASMYN will miss him,” strategic communications consultant Michael Young said.
