JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – News4JAX is celebrating Pride Month this June by highlighting the local organizations that serve our unique and vibrant local LGBTQ+ community.

The making of those grants is funded by endowments supported by donors, including Delores Barr Weaver, the Chartrand Family, Michael Meyers and Chad Labenz, Glenn and Michael Miller, and Jesse Kraker and Kevin Gay.

During the Fund’s 10th anniversary celebration last year, more than $500,000 in new contributions were pledged. This year’s grantmaking was about $15,000 more than the year before.

“It’s heartening to be able to make these grants at a time when many nonprofits serving the LGBTQ community are facing hardship,” said Glenn Miller, chair of the grants panel. “We are grateful to everyone who supported our endowment during our anniversary celebration.”

The focus of the 2024 grants was general program support for organizations serving the LGBTQ community, an approach that allows the nonprofits maximum flexibility to direct funds where they are needed most.

The 2024 grantees include:

  • Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida – $15,000 – to support the fourth cohort of the LGBTQIA+ Nonprofit Leadership Development Program.
  • Equality Florida – $10,000 – to support education and empowerment of Northeast Florida parents with tools, resources, and information to advocate for their LGBTQ children.
