AAPI Month: Celebrating local Filipino couple’s global health care mission

News4JAX is celebrating the resiliency and contributions of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islander Americans all month long.

Dr. Philipp and Carmina Aldana are a Filipino power couple in Jacksonville who have dedicated their lives to helping others through their nonprofit organization, the Neurosurgery Outreach Foundation.

You may remember our feature on Carmina Aldana during Women’s History Month, where we highlighted her inspiring journey and commitment to serving others.

The Neurosurgery Outreach Foundation was founded in Jacksonville in 2009.

It is made up of an all-volunteer team that has spent more than a decade helping people with brain problems.

It all started with a simple request to help neurosurgeon residents in the Philippines.

Philipp was asked to collect used medical tools for his old hospital, and the request sparked his and Carmina’s passion for giving back.

Now, they provide textbooks, training, and medical equipment to doctors in need here in Jacksonville and around the world.

They bring together a community of givers who share their vision of improving neurosurgery care for those who need it most.
