Among many activities to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day —happening on Monday — are a weekend of service opportunities in multiple local counties.
The United Way of Northeast Florida is hosting a Weekend of Service to honor King’s legacy and keep his spirit of unity alive.

They are seeking volunteers for various opportunities in Duval, Clay, and Nassau counties from Jan. 17-20.
King’s dream was not just about lofty ideals; it was about tangible, positive change rooted in shared responsibility, the United Way wrote on its website.
The United Way, AmeriCorps and many nonprofit partners are offering service project opportunities that directly impact lives and community events.
The United Way said spots are almost full, but everyone is invited to join a waiting list for the project of their choice. You will be notified when there is an opening.
The United Way also shared a selection of Do-it-Yourself projects that can support the same work with more flexibility.
