Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department names headquarters in honor of Gary F. Keys Sr.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department held a naming ceremony Thursday for its headquarters building at 515 N. Julia St.

The building was named in honor of the late Gary F. Keys Sr. at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Mayor Donna Deegan, along with representatives from the Jacksonville City Council and JFRD, were at the ceremony. Members of IAFF Local 122, family, and friends will attend.

“Keys was a visionary leader whose policies and standards have significantly influenced generations of firefighters,” JFRD said.

Throughout his career, he held various leadership roles, including chief of JFRD, president of the firefighters’ union, and chief of operations.

JFRD said the dedication of the headquarters building serves as a tribute to Keys' impactful career and lasting legacy in the firefighting community.
