ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The City of St. Augustine is looking for a new poet laureate for the 2025-2026 term.
The poet laureate is a volunteer position that promotes the influence of poetry and will help enrich the lives of residents by sharing and encouraging the gift of poetry.

To be considered for the position, applicants must be at least 18 years old, show a passion for poetry, and have connections to the city of St. Augustine, among other requirements.

Applications for the position will be accepted through Monday, Dec. 30, 2024.

The Poet Laureate program was started when the St. Augustine City Commission adopted Resolution 2022-18. The current poet laureate is Norma Sherry, whose term will end on Jan. 13, 2025.
