A Story of Courage and Liberation

The Eyes of the World traces the pivotal journey from D-Day to VE Day, offering audiences what Monsky calls “emotional history.” Blending archival film and photography with a powerful live performance, the production uniquely captures the human spirit during World War II.

Unlike a traditional concert or lecture, this production combines:

  • A full performance by the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra
  • Four Broadway stars, with credits spanning Hamilton, Mean Girls, My Fair Lady, and Company
  • Striking visuals drawn from the National Archives

The effect, Monsky explains, is a cross between “Hamilton” and a Ken Burns documentary — history that’s felt as much as it’s understood.

From Carnegie Hall to Jacksonville

Monsky has brought this production to some of the world’s most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and even the White House. Yet, he says, Jacksonville holds a special place in his heart.

“I’ve been to the Kennedy Center, the White House, Carnegie Hall, the Boston Pops, and New Orleans for World War II,” Monsky shared. “But where I really wanted to come was Jacksonville.”

That desire stems from deep personal roots. Monsky’s parents, both active in the Jacksonville arts community, passed away within the last two years. Rather than a traditional memorial, he felt it more fitting to honor their legacy by bringing this celebrated production home.

A Night to Remember

Leading the orchestra will be conductor Ian Weinberger, best known for his work with Hamilton on Broadway. With world-class musicians, Broadway vocalists, and a compelling narrative woven through historic imagery, the night promises to be as moving as it is memorable.
