Storms possible this afternoon along I-95 corridor, Southeast Georgia coast

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Folks along the I-95 corridor and Southeast Georgia coast should keep an eye on the sky this afternoon and evening. The best chance for storms will develop near a sea breeze merger close to I-95 and the Southeast Georgia coast.

Where storm boundaries collide, isolated strong to severe storms could fire up — bringing gusty winds between 40 and 60 mph, heavy rainfall and localized flooding. Frequent lightning will also be a concern.

Temperatures are expected to stay in the lower 90s throughout the region, and for the first time in days, there’s not a heat advisory posted.

What to expect through the week

The storm chances don’t end there. Isolated to widely scattered afternoon thunderstorms are expected to continue Sunday and Monday.

Residents are encouraged to stay weather-aware and check local forecasts throughout the week.
