Some locations could pick up between a quarter and a half inch of rain, with locally higher amounts where storms repeatedly move over the same areas.
Despite the clouds and rain, it will remain warm with highs in the upper 80s throughout the course of the afternoon. Southwest winds will be breezy at times, with gusts over 20 mph.
By Tuesday, sunshine returns for part of the day, allowing temperatures to climb back into the lower 90s with heat index values topping 100 degrees before scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms develop.
The rest of the week follows a familiar August pattern, featuring partly sunny skies, highs in the lower 90s, and daily afternoon and evening storms.
Rain chances generally hover around 50 to 60 percent through the weekend, with the greatest coverage during the hottest part of the day before activity tapers off each evening.
