JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Temperatures will soar to near 90 degrees on Saturday with a partly cloudy sky. An isolated shower or storm will be possible, but most spots will remain dry. Pockets of dense smoke will remain overhead during the day which could lead to low visibility and poor air quality.
Sunday will feature more clouds thanks to an approaching front. High temperatures will be in the mid to upper 80s.
Scattered showers and storms are likely as a front pushes across our area later in the day. Any rainfall would be beneficial with the ongoing fires and drought.
Regarding rainfall, the rainfall outlook is not good news for our area. Over the next seven days, little rainfall is expected. There’s an opportunity for some rain later this weekend thanks to an approaching front, but coverage will only be around 30%. We certainly need any rain that we can get due to the worsening drought over our area.
Regarding the drought, the latest drought monitor reflects the overall pattern over the past few months. Most of our area remains in an extreme drought. An exceptional drought classification has been expanded to include more of our area.
The good news is that the dry pattern may change as we head into the end of April. Our area is highlighted in seeing a higher probability of above normal rainfall.
