Read full article: Join Goodwill North FL’s closet clean-out!

Goodwill Industries of North Florida is set to celebrate National Clean Out Your Closet Week, observed from March 16–22, 2025. This week-long event encourages individuals to declutter their homes, get organized, and donate gently used clothing and household items to Goodwill while supporting the local community. National Clean Out Your Closet Week is the ideal time to declutter spaces and refresh the home for spring. Clearing out closets helps create a more organized and peaceful living environment. When you bring those gently used items to Goodwill, is supports the community by funding programs that remove barriers to employment through job training and placement services. “How Your Donation Helps Goodwill Industries of North Florida believes that everyone deserves access to opportunity. From the moment your donation leaves your hand, it becomes part of our Goodwill mission of removing barriers to employment through training, education, and career opportunities in your community. With your support, we create job opportunities and training services for our community – and reuse and upcycle millions of pounds of goods and cardboard. How to Donate Once you’ve decluttered, Goodwill invites you to donate your gently used items to one of its local donation centers. The Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo offers a unique blend of education and wildlife wonder, attracting visitors from all over. Recently, the zoo hosted a farewell party for its beloved otters, who are moving to the Memphis Zoo as part of a species survival plan. The move is temporary while renovations are underway for the next otter family. The zoo is the only teaching zoo accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums on a college campus worldwide. It serves as a 10-acre learning lab for the zoo animal technology program, welcoming up to 70,000 visitors annually. Students here gain hands-on experience in zookeeping, preparing them for careers in zoos globally. The zoo’s diverse animal collection enriches the learning experience. With about 70 species, including alligators, rescue animals like a bald eagle and owls, plus exotic species such as Asian small-clawed otters and tree kangaroos, students gain exposure to a wide range of animals. Accreditation allows the zoo to partner globally for education and conservation. They collaborate with 240 AZA-accredited zoos worldwide, participating in species survival plans to maintain genetically healthy animal populations. Visitors of all ages can enjoy the zoo, with features like a playground designed to mimic animal movements. Guests often interact with zookeepers, enhancing their experience. The zoo hosts several events, including “Party for the Planet” on April 19, celebrating Earth Day with conservation activities, training demonstrations, and animal encounters. In May, the zoo celebrates World Tree Kangaroo Day, featuring educational activities and cultural experiences. The Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo offers a magical opportunity to explore wildlife education and conservation. Don’t miss the chance to experience this unique destination.
