Deputies responded to multiple student fights in the parking lot of Palatka Junior-Senior High School Wednesday night after students returned from a mental health summit.

A gun brought to Palatka Junior-Senior High School on Monday triggered a school lockdown and the arrest of four students facing multiple charges, including possession of a firearm on campus and disruption of a school function, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

A 16-year-old Palatka Junior-Senior High School student was arrested and charged Thursday with threatening to kill classmates after he posted a music video on his social media account, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said.

The Putnam County community is mourning this week after a longtime Palatka Junior-Senior High School coach died over the weekend.

Another student was arrested on Wednesday in Putnam County, accused of using a computer at Interlachen Junior-Senior High School to make a threat.

Dr. Michael George, principal of Atlantic Coast High School, was named Florida’s Principal of the Year, according to the Florida Department of Education.

Three students suffered minor injuries in a crash Tuesday morning involving a school bus in Putnam County, authorities said.
