Jacksonville – This park celebrates the history of the Lavilla neighborhood and commemorates the Black National Anthem–which played a major role in the Great Migration and the nation’s history. It’s critical that we create high-quality programming that contributes to a healthy, happy and thriving neighborhood. There is so much rich history in our city - the more we activate the spaces that honor it, the more we can appreciate it and learn for the future. On Thursday, June 19 we have a whole set of events honoring Juneteenth in the Park.We will have free yoga with The Peaceful Bean from 6-7pm.We will have a Juneteenth Storytelling Tour led by Yollie of Explore Jax Core from 6:30 to 8pm. This walking tour explores historic sites related to the emancipation and freedom of people who were enslaved. Yollie does a great job creating a space for discussion, inspiration and connection. And we’ll have live music from Mr. Al Pete as well as food trucks from 7 to 9 p.m.All of these events are free and open to everyone! www.levspark.org
