GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A new third space and event venue is opening in Downtown Gainesville this weekend. Bazaar47 officially opens its doors to the public on Aug. 22 and is hosting a block party to celebrate.
While Bazaar47 might be a new name, the space is not. Bazaar47 was formerly known as How Bazar and was owned by five local creatives, who used their individual skills to create a unique space for the Gainesville arts community.

Now, the space is solely owned by Laila Fakhoury, one of the original five owners. The announcement of the sole ownership was made on social media July 20. With the change in ownership came a change in name from How Bazar to Bazaar47.
“Being the sole owner of [Bazaar47] means that more of what I was doing in the space is being represented now,” Fakhoury told News4JAX. “I’ve mostly transitioned us into being primarily an event venue and a third place, which were the things that I was really focused on when it was How Bazar.”
Bazaar47’s Grand Opening will take place during The Big Bazaar Block Party Aug. 22. From 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., SW 2nd Street in Downtown Gainesville will be taken over for the opening celebration. The event will feature vendors, food, and music throughout the Downtown Gainesville city block.
