Sunday storm chances continue before Fall ushers in cooler weather

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected, mainly during the afternoon and early evening.

A few storms could become strong and produce heavy rain locally. Highs today will reach the upper 80s to lower 90s, with heat index values near 100 before clouds and storms increase.

Showers and a few thunderstorms could move toward coastal southeast Georgia and northeast Florida before sunrise Monday. Patchy fog is also possible inland, especially west of U.S. 301, with lows in the mid-70s.

Moderate rip-current risks will continue at area beaches, while stronger northeast winds bring increasing marine hazards Thursday and Friday. Cooler temperatures are expected later this week and into next weekend.
