Holiday weekend forecast shaping up nicely, but keep an eye out for isolated storms

. (.)

Happy Friday! We’re settling into a pretty typical early July pattern across Northeast Florida, with a mix of sun and building clouds through the day.

A few scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop this afternoon, mainly before 4 p.m., but many neighborhoods will stay dry.

High temperatures climb to around 91 degrees, with the humidity making it feel closer to 102.

Winds will turn onshore out of the east around 8 to 13 mph, helping a bit along the beaches while inland areas stay hot and steamy.

Looking ahead to the holiday weekend, Independence Day is shaping up nicely.

Most of Saturday will be dry with plenty of sunshine and highs in the mid-90s, although a few isolated storms could pop up after 3 p.m.

If you’ve got cookouts, beach plans, or fireworks, the earlier part of the day looks to be your best bet.

Sunday through next week, expect more of the same—hot afternoons in the mid-90s, heat index values topping 100 degrees, and the daily chance for scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms.

Stay hydrated, take breaks in the shade, and keep an eye on the radar if you’re spending time outdoors.
