JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Patchy dense fog will be possible this morning with temperatures in the 50s. Make sure to plan extra travel time as the fog is dense in some spots.
Due to the dense fog, a DENSE FOG ADVISORY is in effect for our area through 9 AM this morning.
Once the fog lifts, we will see a mix of sun and clouds this afternoon with temperatures in the 70s and 80s.
A large area of high pressure will bring warmer temperatures to our area through the upcoming weekend. Highs for the most part will be in the 70s and 80s with little rain in sight. We certainly need rain due to the ongoing extreme drought.
Areas along the coast over the next few days will have the best chance of seeing a few spotty showers due to an onshore wind. An isolated storm will also be possible thanks to an increase in humidity later this week. The increase in wind along the coast this week will also increase the risk for rip currents.
Speaking of the drought, the latest drought monitor reflects the overall pattern over the past few months. The area of “extreme” drought continues to expand in coverage each week and now covers most of our area.
Looking ahead to the Gate River Run Saturday morning, temperatures will be near 70 degrees with more humidity. No rain is expected and it will be dry for the entire event.
